New York Premiere
"AMERICAN THEATER'S MOST INSPIRED COMPANY" -- Ben Brantley, NY Times

The Wooster Group's POOR THEATER, directed by Elizabeth LeCompte, is an homage to the work of three seminal figures in 20th century art -- theater director Jerzy Grotowski, choreographer William Forsythe, and visual artist Max Ernst.

Grotowski's "Akropolis", Ernst's "Histoire Naturelle", and Forsythe's theories of improvisation are explored through The Wooster Group's telekinetic aesthetic.

Wooster Group artists and associates working on the project include Geoff Abbas, Ruud van den Akker, John Collins, Joby Emmons, J. Reid Farrington, Iver Findlay, Ari Fliakos, Sam Gold, Bozkurt Karasu, Ken Kobland, Christopher Kondek, Elizabeth LeCompte, Margaret Mann, Gabe Maxson, Sheena See, Scott Shepherd, Natalie Thomas, Jennifer Tipton, and Kate Valk.
